Feedback on FP to Expression Migration from the Novices
- As many of you have cited - you are at varying levels with FP and have made the transition to Expression ver x. As a novice who did much of his work in FP - now having to transition I am extremley intersted inthe feedback from like individuals who have made the transition and whether the investment was worth the upgrade vice other products for ease of use etc..Also was the learning curve intuitive so that your site was re-published seamlessly or a series of hiccup's occured before stable..
Thanks

- Hi there,
I used FP 2003 and earlier editions and then moved on to EW1 and now EW2. I like Expression Web much better than FP and am so glad I made the move and parted with my money which I must admit I was very loathe to do. It was worth every penny though.
Learning curve: yes it is like FP but different. I got rid of the Toolbars to start with - or you could just move them to the sides, and then you feel more like a FPager. ;-)) You soon learn though that you need those excellent toolbars.
What I would do if I were you: Download a trial of EW2 unless you have this already.
Use Tina Clarke's e-book to set up EW. - http://any-expression.com/expression-web/ebooks/
Then go to Cheryl's website and watch her Tutorials. Excellent. You should then be able to see how well EW2 works for you.
Cheryl also has some templates there too, for you to play around with.

This is the Forum link, but move on to the Tutorials - you can also download them.
Cheryl also has a great book on EW1 and I feel sure that most of this will apply to EW2. Perhaps Cheryl will say so, if not. I find it coveres what I need. I bought Jim Cheshire's book when I got EW2 but I have had it a month now, and sadly I haven't done more than scan it. Cheryl's book is easy to read and understand as her videos are.

MS MVP Expression http://by-expression.com - Hi CassieRae I think said it all. I have had a few hiccups along the way. I used Fp 97.
I found it worth the transition
What I haven't figured out on my own from the Tutorials here on Expression and Cheryl's Site I have found answers here in the fourms.
Everyone has been really great.
Cd Locke http://web.tampabay.rr.com/locke/ - Goodness me Cheryl - WOW! Glad that my comments made your day, truly I am.
- To All: Thanks for the advise, and input. As there are many tools on the market - "transitioning to..." a new product after uears of being with ... has always been a mental affliction. Thanks and best of luck to the converts.
