    A. If you run SuperPreview for Internet Explorer in VMware Fusion then SuperPreview may crash when you start it.

This requires a modification of your virtual machine's registry to workaround.

Warning: If you are not careful editing the registry you may cause damage to your virtual machine. If you are not familiar with editing the registry, do not attempt this operation. No support or assistance is provided by Microsoft. Doing this may also cause the VMware Fusion Application Sharing feature to stop working properly with your virtual machine.

    1. Go to start, click run, and type regedit.
    2. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet.
    3. Scroll down to VMWAREHOSTOPEN.EXE, and browse to \Shell\open\
    4. You'll see an item named "command". Double click on it. The contents of it will look like this:

    C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\VMwareHostOpen.exe --default http

Change it so that it looks like this:

    C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools\VMwareHostOpen.exe

    (Just remove "-default http")

    5. Close Regedit. SuperPreview will now launch.

    2. When analyzing a page you may receive the error message "Insufficient memory to continue execution of the program."

This requires a newer version of a SuperPreview file to fix. E-mail superbug@microsoft.com for assistance.

    3. When opening SuperPreview you may receive the error message "FileNotFound"

This requires a newer version of a SuperPreview file to fix. E-mail superbug@microsoft.com for assistance.

I attempted to send an email to the address provided (superbug@microsoft.com) but received an undefined error message from the mail server. So, instead, I am posting it here.

    Expression Team,

I am contacting you in response to your Workarounds post on the Expression Blog. When attempting to view a page under Internet Explorer 6 mode, I get the error message “Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.”

Will the newer version of the SuperPreview file address this bug?

This isn't a Microsoft team feedback forum, but a user forum.  You should try the Connect website to contact Microsoft with feedback:  connect.microsoft.com

Thanks for the report Todd. I just tested the email and got the same error you did. Someone on the team is resolving this right now so try emailing again in a little bit.  In the meantime, YES a newer version of SuperPreview will fix this bug.

    thank you for trying SuperPreview!

That's odd. That's the exact same message I get - locally - from time to time when EW2 unceremoniously crashes on me.

It's just a plain older Vista machine that I use w/2 GB RAM...

I always thought that maybe I had a bad part of a memory chip even though EW2 was the only place I got the message and also the only APP that ever complained about bad memory...

Hmmm interesting to see this same message posted here tho' !

How does this Sig. line work anyway?

I'm beginning to think that maybe my older Intel board D845EBG2 - even with BIOS update - is weirdly not capable of handling the upgraded P4 2.8GHz Proc. & 2GB RAM....

I mean, stupid question but, does EW2 use some special way of talking to newer MBoards only???

as an aside I did check my registry startmenuinternet key but FireFox and IE are the only sub-keys......

Maybe I should just buy a new computer anyways - huh?!?!

How does this Sig. line work anyway?
Is this how to get a second line formatted?

Thanks so much, I had given up on being able to try out SuperPreview, despite the fact that I really need a tool like this.  Thanks for your help!

You might try Adobe's Browserlab which runs online. Since it is also in beta with limited enrollment you may or may not be able to join but slots open up on a space available basis so you can keep trying. It is over at http://labs.adobe.com
