how to view all images under a top level folder
- Hi,
I have a folder structure like:
-catalog root level
-- USA (0 images)
--- ALABAMA (1 image)
---- Mobile (10 images)
---- Montgomery (20 images)
---Colorado (0)
----Denver (10 images)
----Boulder (10 images)
Scenario:
If I select e.g. Alabama I'd like to see in the right hand side of EM2 all images in that state, regardless of the city (==means 31 images).
I KNOW that I can select multiple folders and click "Show Items" BUT I still have to expand all sub folders and select them manually!
IF I do not expand e.g. ALABAMA and just select USA and ALABAMA then I get only 1 single image shown instead of 31 (according to my above example).
Is that correct or do I miss here something?
Wouldn't it make sense to get all images underneath a top level folder be shown once you select that top folder? Imagine I want to browse through all USA images!
Any hints are appreciated,

What you need is to turn on "Union of Folder Hierarchies" on the Catalog Folders options menu (lightning bolt on the right side of Catalog Folders bar). If I understand your question, then you are going to love choosing this option since it will then allow you to see what is in the parent folder as well as child folders as you desire.
Have you considered using the Place Finder on the Organize panel? It's already designed for this kind of work. I would also suggest putting that location metadata in the images themselves so you can use the built in tools of the place finder instead of building your own folder structure.
