Images revert to previous size
I’ve created a web site that displays a lot of images (.jpg) on several pages, each image on each page within a folder called ‘images.’ After I published my site with all the images, they worked fine. But, then I had to resize every image. So, I opened each image with a photo editor (Paint Shop Pro 8) and resized them and saved the images. Then, published them with the new sizes. Later, all the images I had resized reverted back to their previous size. Even though I backed up my site each day, as I had a lot of images to resize. All my saved versions of my site had the old image sizes. The image file shows that I updated them with a new date, however in each image folder the ‘thumb.db’ files have always remained dated on the same date I created the first images.
I cannot think of anything that would cause a resized image to go back to its original size when I go to add more images. I’ve used ‘refresh’ before I publish so that my files are current before I publish, but something is causing my images to revert. Got any ideas on where to start? Is it a ‘thumb.db’ thing, something EW2 does if it is not working right? Am, I missing a step. I do lots of websites with EW2, but only this one with all the images that have to be continually shaped. Until I can solve this problem with the images, I have to quit working on this site because my work gets continually undone.
Any suggestions? Any idea what is going on. This occurs when I use another computer (PC) also.
Thanks

- You need to remove and then reinsert the images in the pages because the pages still contain the old height and width settings.

Resizing images is step one. Telling EW to display them at the new size is step two. You had already inserted the images in the pages: look in Code View, and you'll see the image sizes explicitly stated, based on the size when originally inserted. That's the size the browser is instructed to display them as. They don't have to match the actual size of the images, so EW doesn't change them when you change the image sizes. Since, of course, you do want them to match the actual image sizes, you need to change them: either by entering the real sizes by hand, or by re-inserting the images in Design View. - If they were all the same size (or a few sets of sizes), you could just use Search & Replace across all pages for the old sizes and replace with the new.
No need to delete and replace all of those photos unnecessarily if S&R will do it.
