Problem uploading data to website
Problem uploading data to website
- Hello
For some reason, every day when I switch my computer on and go to upload data to my website through EW2 it clears out my list of user names / passwords. It never used to do this and it is annoying me now.
Any advice of what I can do to get it working again?
Thank you.
Andrew

- Find the local copy ( on your machine ) of the file you are using to store user names and passwords,
right click it and select: Do not publish.
FrontPage MVP - Sorry, I think I confused you.
When you click the button to remote publish the site, you should be able to store the login credentials. But mine are not being saved.
Andrew - If you are using ftp:// to publish, EW 2 does not / can not store the user name and password.
Supposedly fixed in EW 3.
FrontPage MVP - Hhhm. Then it is a operating system thing. I also notice that MSN is not remembering my username/pw.
Andrew The fact that EW can not store it should have nothing to do with MSN, as they are actually stored by internet explorer or in a cookie.
Do you have cookies blocked?
FrontPage MVPIs it your IE autocomplete settings that have been changed? 'Tools' - Internet Options' - 'Content' - 'Autocomplete'.

PS: I thinks it's the FPSE publishing usernames and passwords that EW V2 doesn't store, not the FTP ones.

EW2 can store ftp credentials. It can't store http (FPSE) credentials. Expression Web 2 does save FTP credentials. It is Expression Web one that does not save FTP credentials.
What OS are you using and what type of user account do yuo have (admnistrator, power user, standard).
MS MVP Expression Tutorials & Help http://by-expression.com and online instructor led Expression Classes- OK, I have switched on all the auto-complete settings. For the "life" of my instance of my operating system those settings are remembered. I can go into EW2 as often as I like and publish.
As soon as I reboot the computer these values are all gone.
I am running XP Home SP3 with admin account.

Aaagh, to many versions, they are all running together.
Never had the FPSE problem because I never store passwords either way.
