Bought new copy of Expressions Media 2 for Mac. Have trial copy installed. Won't let me install new copy.
Bought new copy of Expressions Media 2 for Mac. Have trial copy installed. Won't let me install new copy.
- I installed the trial version of Expression Media 2 on my Mac last week. I used to use iView Media Pro and have a large catalog. The trial version worked fine. So I bought a copy of EM2 from Amazon. When I try to install it, it gets to the disk checking stage and then tells me I cannot install it because I have a newer version of the program installed. I uninstalled the newer (trial) version but get the same problem. I have searched the net and followed advice to remove the package receipt etc and I have manually removed everything I can find that EM2 trial left behind - all made no difference. So I have a legit bought and paid for copy of the program but I can't install it! Anyone encountered this? Anyone got any advice on how to totally uninstall the EM2 trial and all its components? Thanks.

- Hi KBarnes,
You didn't need to install anything. The trial is the full version, it just times out after 30 days. However, now that you have removed Expression Media, you will need to install the trial again. Let me know if that doesn't go through. Then just enter the key that you got when you bought Expression Media 2.

- Hi,I Have the same kind of issue. Installed the trial version two weeks ago then uninstalled manually all the files I could. This week-end I wanted to re-install the trial version to show one of my friend the soft features, but couldn't get through the disk checking stage. I would be interested in buying the key, however not until I can finally reinstall the trial! Could anyone help me out with this issue? Thanks a lot in advance!
- What operating system are you on?
What errors are you getting?
You may have deleted some of the licensing files, and if so Expression Media may think you are trying to circumvent the license check. We can probably help you but would need some more information to nail the problem down.

Anita Oakley - Hi Anita,Thank you very much for your reply. I have a brand new Macbook Pro running under Mac OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard). The error is the same as stated above, ie I cannot install because I have a never version of the programe intalled. I might have indeed deleted some important files... I tried to locate and delete all EM related files on the hard drive the first time. However, I noticed I couldn't find one of the file you usually recommend to uninstall (.pkg file in the receipt folder). I don't know if it is related or not.I hope this will help to solve the issue ;-)Again, thanks a lot for your help,Best regardsPaul
- Ok - here's what you can do:
Under HD/Library delete the Expression Media 2.pkg. If that's not there, we need to rethink this.
Then try reinstalling. Strange that you should be running into this if you are trying to install the trial version again. That should be the same version and should install without a hitch.
Regards,
Anita - Hummm.... No trace of that file in the HD/Library folder. I spent some time looking at all other folders, and the .pkg file doesn't show anywhere. This is what surprised me at the first place, because you said in a previous post that removing this file should help.Any other guess? Thanks a lot!regards
- And you are sure you are installing the latest build from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=bb6aa4e5-1101-4116-9513-030679a14b77? Since that's the latest version released, the check for later versions should be perfectly happy.
Regards,
Anita - Worked like a charm this time!!I'm ashamed, I should have looked at the build version first...You saved my day, thank you VERY much for your help!Best regards,Paul
- My pleasure!
