Hey everyone I'm just getting started with expression web, and I'm having a good deal of trouble finding useful tutorials online. Anyone with any suggestions for sites to go to feel free to give me some links. I'd like to eventually create a fully customized website. In the meantime though I would like some suggestions on where to find templates for free.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Swift

Read the BEFORE POSTING thread.  Lots of links and help in that post.

As for learning resources, you will find in the thread prominently labeled "BEFORE POSTING... ," which you were supposed to read, you know, before posting, a trove of learning resources both for Expression Web and for learning fundamental Web technologies such as HTML and CSS.

As for templates, Google is your friend. For general, non-specific templates not designed for any particular devlopment environment, google "free web templates." For templates theoretically conformant with EW's templating system, google "free Expression Web templates." Templates range from very good indeed (often coming with a price) to ugly, poorly coded, and fragile (often among the free templates).

A word of advice, though. Unless you intend to use the templates exactly as is, without modification, you would be much better served by first learning something about HTML and CSS. Otherwise, you will be back here again asking how it is you managed to completely hose the layout of your lovely template by making one simple change. Believe me, it is quite possible to do so, and the less you know about the basics, the more likely the possibility becomes.

    cheers,

    Plural's don't have apostrophe's. It seem's sometime's that any word's ending in "s" get a gratuitous apostrophe. Apostrophe's are used to indicate possessive's and elision's (contraction's or abbreviation's).

    Hi Guys-

I downloaded EW3 two weeks ago (have EW2) and am considering updating my website.

Have been doing my own since FP original and have bought countless upgrades and then the new EW when it came out.

Read the FAQ,  seached the web.    Found very little content to help with EW3.

Assume there is a rich community out there with lots of advice and examples.  If there is,  would like recommendations.   If not,  then help me avoid 2 weekends of browsing.

Note:  Took me a week to figure out that sample templates were moved from file tab to site tab.
    Dumb.

See mine and Chris' posts above. The BEFORE POSTING thread has a plethora of learning resources. Once you have worked your way through all of those, see the "Learn" link at the top of this page for scores of video tutorials on Expression Studio and on Expression Web in particular.

Not that much has changed in the way of core functionality between EW2 and EW3, so most or all of the tutorials for EW2 apply equally to EW3, with minor changes in some cases, particularly those which describe ASP.NET functionality, which, AFAIK, is virtually unaltered.

    cheers,
    scott

Don't worry Swifter Designs, I"m gonna go back and read the "before posting" too. Just blew right by it. Your name implies you might do as such.
