Error 1406......again
Error 1406......again
- I've got Expression Studio 2 and have been trying to install it for a while now.
But every time I try to install Expression Web, I get a 1406 error. I don't even know what that means.
If anyone can help me out with this, it'd be really appreciated.

- I shut down Spy Sweeper and tried installing again. Still got the 1406 error.
I can't use the first solution because the installer doesn't tell me what key it can't write to.
Haven't tried a clean boot yet but will probably try that to see if it'll install.
- UPDATE!
I just tried to install Expression Web under a clean boot and got a 1601 error.
Anyone know what that means? Can it be fixed?
This is really starting to annoy me now.

The forum is the responsibility of Microsoft developers, not the participants, and the EW and FrontPage MVPs who post here, and many others, are just as disgusted as you are.
cheers,

- Totally remove spy sweeper as newer versions tend to be like a virus and won't shut down. After its removed, reboot and try the install again.
If that still fails the issue is pointed more to a permissions issue and can be file or registry related. Have you had problems with permissions on that machine as of late? - paladun said: The forum is the responsibility of Microsoft developers, not the participants, and the EW and FrontPage MVPs who post here, and many others, are just as disgusted as you are. That message was actually aimed at the MS devs responsible for this forum (hopefully they actually look at the forums). Sorry if my message was seen as being aimed at the users.

Mike EW, I'll try that and see how I go. Will report back on my progress. - Still getting that 1406 error even after uninstalling Spy Sweeper.
I have had registry permission issues with installing Office 2007 as well.
- Just reset the registry permissions according to the KB article that Steve Easton linked. Now I'm getting a 1601 error while trying to install EW2.
What should I do now?
