I downloaded a trial version of Expres. web 3 to compare to other software before buying, i liked the EW3 so i had a friend pick up a copy for me and installed it. went through the process of installing ,, tried to use the product key but it said it was invalide, uninstalled EW3, cleaned windows, defraged, restarted several times and then installed from the disk, the product key now took but it insistes that i have only 43 days left on the trial version which i eliminated and when i registered (which was a hoot, you hit the register button and off you go to microsofts page with no evidence of any way to register but if you follow a buy upgrade link you do end up finding a link for registering but it won't finish its process) at any rate i have been frustrated by this loop (like ground hog day, if you seen the movie) would like the programe to recognize it is owned so it will not quit on me when it decends to day 0     Any thing that i can do besides buy compitition soft ware, ok i don't want that, i just want resolution. thanks,

Thanks Scott, say are we having fun yet? Now that things are clearer about forum protocol we can all get on with another cup of coffee. I know that offense is not the intention, it just feels like ninth grade all over again, its the chips or at least the allusion of. Peace. Later, Mike

See the links above in Installation support. This is a user-to-user forum. There's an e-mail address for installation problems.

P.S.: You didn't need to uninstall or install. You could have just entered the product key in the trial version to activate it--they are the same programs.

What Bill said.  One other note:  registering is not the same as licensing.  What you want to do is to get Expression Web to allow you to license the version you installed.  The problem with registering is a known issue that we're trying to get fixed but that's not a required function; that just tells Microsoft that you are using the application.

Thanks, i did try entering the product key 1st from the the trial download one that i had installed but it would not accept the # it said it did not match the current copy. so i tried the next logical solution (logical in my own limited vision) and that was to uninstall the down load and then install the purchased version, but the trail to the original version's past existence just would not go away. and still has not yielded to my efforts.

And the question still remains—did you try any of the suggestions in the Expression Web Installation Support thread at the top of the thread list? We have posted all known information gleaned from the forum about installation issues in that thread, it is regularly updated when anything new is learned, and if you read it, you will find that there is free installation support for purchased versions (not trials) available simply by emailing the address given. Sorry, but you can ask here all week long, and we can't tell you any more than is in that thread. Read it.

    cheers,
    scott
    Plural's don't have apostrophe's. It seem's sometime's that any word's ending in "s" get a gratuitous apostrophe. Apostrophe's are used to indicate possessive's and elision's (contraction's or abbreviation's).

Thanks Scott. yes that question does still hang out there, yes i did scan the questions but did not see any that matched my troubles but i did read several that looked promising but were not, at least for my present dilemma. i did follow one link to the e-mail address to send to suport for some direction that i might go to fix this thing i am dealing with. i take it you are annoyed by poor gramer such as apostrophe's and their miss use , you have two choices, you can live in quet misery or trouble the world about it, either way, good Luck, later Mike

OK, Mike, let's get this straight. First of all, that thing below the line is a tagline, a sig, something that goes on every message I post. I don't live in quiet misery about it, or in fact, about anything. It is there simply to try in a small way to curb a practice that is incorrect and annoying, but certainly not life threatening or conducive to bringing misery. It is also largely tongue-in-cheek, as indicated by the exaggeration and repetition, which apparently managed to get right by you.

Second, re-read my post. The part that said "... Expression Web Installation Support thread at the top of the thread list" referred to a specific sticky post ("sticky" meaning one that always stays at the top of the thread list), compiled and intended to try to address installation issues. Neither I nor Bill was talking about scanning all the questions, but were referring to the suggestions contained in that thread, specifically, and referred to by both of us by the thread's title, specifically.

The "thread list" is not this series of messages on the same subject that we are lengthening at present. This is a thread, a single thread, a grouping of messages having the same subject. The thread list is the list of topics found on the main forum screen, the listing of all message groups, or threads, such as this. At the top of that thread list you will find two sticky threads meant to be read by new users before posting.

The first is titled beginning with "BEFORE POSTING... ," and is meant to be read by all new forum users. The second is titled Expression Web Installation Support, and is there only for the benefit of those who, like yourself, are experiencing installation issues. It is that second thread to which everyone has been referring, and which contains, as stated earlier, "... all known information gleaned from the forum about installation issues... , it is regularly updated when anything new is learned, and if you read it, you will find that there is free installation support for purchased versions... " That's what I and others have been trying to get across, and you can take offense if you choose to, but none was offered.

BTW, it's grammar, not "gramer."  ;-)

    cheers,
    scott

    Mike,

Anytime you join a new community there is a learning curve even if the same forum applicaiton was used. Everyone feels a bit of a being the freshman until they get used to the group. So hang lose and skim through the stickies at the top of the forum.
