Proposed Answer(Refreshing) Exif Information within EM2

    Hi,

I noticed that if I have a JPEG file in a catalog, and I update that file's Exif information outside of EM2 (Mac, B2096, OS X 10.6.1), the new tags don't appear in EM2, unless I rebuild the item. How does EM handle EXIF information. Does it copy it into the catalog and display it from the catalog? Or does it store in the catalog which exif tags are present but displays the actual value from the file?

Is there a way to display additional exif tags without rebuilding the items (which I don't want to do because it triggers the problem in http://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/media/thread/f19978ea-acaa-4ed4-ba67-f515d8e0c316 )?

Expression Media stores all of the annotations in an internal database (the ivc file) It only updates the media file when you sync, and it only reads the media file on import or rebuild.

So, if you are going to make changes to the EXIF with a third-party program, first sync metadata by exporting it all to the media files. And then after your EXIF changes are made, rebuild items.

If you don't want to rebuild, then just delete the items from the catalog, and reimport. Everything should come back in with the import.
