AnswerExpression Media beeps when active and SlingPlayer running

I'm using Expression Media for the first time.  I imported a folder of 4300 photos and it says that all files were scanned in the activity log.

Things seem to be working, although a bit sluggish, but it keeps beeping every 10 seconds or so while it is the active app even if I don't touch it.

Are the beeps indicating some error?  I don't see anything in the event log.  How do I troubleshoot this problem?

I am using Windows XP, Expression Media 2 with the latest updates on the PC.

I've found that it will beep (with the right focus) even without a catalog open (or an empty catalog)

I found what it doesn't like.  If I have SlingBox SlingPlayer open and playing from the SlingBox, it will beep every 10 seconds or so, as long as the focus is set as I described.  If I stop the SlingPlayer or close it, the beeping stops.

I run the SlingPlayer all the time, I've never had this happen with any other application.

Hi - I've never heard of this. Does it beep no matter what you are doing?

I'm still narrowing it down, but it beeps when the list or thumbnail view has the focus.  If you select something on the info or organize pane it doesn't beep, nor does it beep if it is not the active app.  It beeps if I filter to one image or show all or anything in between.

Usually a beep means that you are trying to do something that's impossible at the time. So for instance, if you try to click in the app when a dialog box is up or something like that. But in this case, you say that it's beeping every so often even if you aren't doing anything? Weird!

All I can think of is that something is conflicting. Are you on Mac or Winodws? Do you have any timed processes that run on your system? Does this happen if you boot in Safe Mode:

Interesting! I wonder what SlingPlayer is doing that would affect Expression Media. Or is SlingPlayer beeping in the background because we are blocking it in some way? Very strange issue.

I don't have any way to test this since I don't have the SlingBox. But thanks for reporting it.

I have the very same issue, have just had to adapt to hearing the beep constantly.

Yep, me too.  Ding!  Ding!  Ding!  I just went to the ctrl panel and disable the sound for that event.
