Script "Copy annotations from files with the same name" does not work
- Hello,
I allready tried to apply the script "Copy annotations from files with the same name" a couple of times, but it does not seems to work as I do not see the keywords added to the files were I want the annotations to be copied to. To be sure I explain you how I work.
I take pictures with bracketing. So I have multiple exposures. Then I use HDR software to merge those exposures. But that software is not able to keep the annotations, so after the merging they are all gone. Then I go to Expresion Media and I select my original raw or tiff files and then I choose the script. I wait 30 or 40 seconds, but nothing happend.
It worked with iView 2, with iView 3 I had the same problems as I have now.
I work on windows btw.
Thanks for the help.
Regards.

Hi Selphet,
I'm assuming that you are on a Mac. We do have a problem with the shipped script for the Mac. You can fix it by following the directions in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/968818.
Holler if you are actually on Windows!
Hope this helps,

Selphet,
The script works for me, both in iView 3 and xMedia 2. I regularly annotate JPGs on a laptop, as quicker to view, and then copy annotations back to RAW files on my desktop.- Are your original files and the HDR file in the same catalogue?
- Does your HDR file have exactly the same filename as one of your original files? If you merge image01.tif, image02.tif and image03.tif the script will only work if the hdr file has the same name as one of these original files. It can have the same extension, but would then obviously need to be in a different directory. If can have a different extension and then can be anywhere, as long as it is in the catalogue e.g. image01.jpg.
- Have you selected the file(s) you wish to copy annotations from? If nothing selected then nothing will happen. You would need to select image01.tif and run the script for it to copy annotations to image01.jpg. Make sure you select the right file otherwise you copy the 'wrong' way.
- Your hdr file won't have the annotations in it until you synchronise them out. They will be in the catalogue, but not the image until then.
Create a small catalogue with just the source images and the resultant HDR image and re-try.

- Anita O,
Came across this post (concerning "Copy annotations from files with the same name") and tried the fix you directed Selphet to... was not able to get the script to work using Applescript Editor v.2.3 on Mac OS 10.6.1. I got syntax errors when I tried to compile it. What to do? I would very much like to use the Copy Annotations... script on multiple items.
Thanks,
Tom - Hi Tom,
When you copy the script in you may need to straighten out the lines. Sometimes word wrap moves things to a new line. Sometimes there is an extra carriage return or something when you paste it into the editor. That's probably where your errors are coming in.
If you aren't familiar with AppleScript to know how the syntax should go, do you have someone available who can look at it for you?
Regards,
Anita Oakley
