I have installed all of the expression studio programs but I got hung by expression web with the following 1606 error relating to network share of a invalid folder. I can't remove or repair install and have removed all other studio programs but can't seem to get rid of 'web' program. It has also entangled itself into the office programs making those display error 1324 folder error pointing back to expression web. I have deleted all the occurrences in the Reg. but still can't find the bad folder directory. Another infamous windows installer hiccup is my guess. just not sure if .net 3.5 or SQL server is what's not playing nicely, if at all, any help would be very much appreciated. Thanx Benny

    Hi Tazz999,

Are you installing the BETA version or is this version 1 ?

Thanx for reply. I'm installing v1 studio from partner program. everything went well except 'Web', apparently it installed also but everytime I start a program or install a program 'Ex. Web' installer fires up and hangs with a bad shared folder message. When I cancel out, the program I'm running works fine, just aggravating to have the installer fire up. I now have a Windows update error that can't DL updates. I'm thinking this could be a possible byproduct of this issue. I'm running Vista Biz 32bit and just trying to figure out were this installer hang is hiding, so I can delete, than reinstall. I tried your suggestion you gave to someone else about the Office utility, didn't help though. My thoughts are the problem is hiding in the registry just haven't found the correct key....any and all idea's welcome 'cause I'm probably missing it or looking right at it without a clue.

You're entitled to free technical support for installation problems, so you should contact support...click on the link under "Need more Help" in the upper right corner of this page:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/ph/12105

Or it could be that since you're part of the partner program, you need to go through a special channel for it...I'm not sure about that. If that's the case, the support folks will tell you and put you on the right track.

I recently bought a student copy of Web Expressions 2.0 and have encountered the same "1606" error.  However, because I purchased the program at a discount through my school, my understanding is I do not get the free technical support.  Is there a way to install the program without having to pay more money?
