BUT it is definitely a problem with my machine (the configuration perhaps - vista64bit and quicktime !?) because i just tested the console test app on a different machine (32bit windows 2008 server) and WORKED just fine.

bets regards,
giannis
Wed, 24 Jun 2009 12:21:20 Z2009-06-24T12:21:20Zhttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#d469fdf6-bb76-47ae-a4d0-963ed7736440http://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#d469fdf6-bb76-47ae-a4d0-963ed7736440Dean Rowehttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Dean%20Roweexpression encoder sdk - mp4 format problem
So for some reason QuickTime is not being detected on your 64-bit machine. This definitely should work as a whole bunch of us here work with 64-bit machines. Can you run the 32-bit version of Regedit on your 64-bit box to check something. You can do this by running

c:\Windows\SysWOW64\regedit.exe

Then navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Apple Computer, Inc.\QuickTime and see if that is there with appropriate values?

Regards
Dean.
Wed, 24 Jun 2009 20:42:09 Z2009-06-24T20:42:09Zhttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#7e020025-c852-4e98-8fb6-d91a31a07aa1http://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#7e020025-c852-4e98-8fb6-d91a31a07aa1itseneshttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=itsenesexpression encoder sdk - mp4 format problemi did find the entries in the registry but i'm not sure what the appropriate values are, could you please elaborate.
btw i ported the app back to windows service and works really good - i really really like the expression encoder api.

best regards,

giannisThu, 25 Jun 2009 08:26:19 Z2009-06-25T08:26:19Zhttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#9da27ead-18c2-4099-a487-e158b4a59afahttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/encoder/thread/cfc1dc0c-fe69-4838-8e1c-b1eb6b967835#9da27ead-18c2-4099-a487-e158b4a59afaDean Rowehttp://social.expression.microsoft.com/Profile/en-US/?user=Dean%20Roweexpression encoder sdk - mp4 format problemThanks for the comments. I'm not sure what else to suggest as it looks like you've tried uninstalling and reinstalling QuickTime. I assume you're installing the latest version? We've certainly used QuickTime and Encoder on 64-bit machines, so it should work.
Regards
Dean.Mon, 29 Jun 2009 07:14:36 Z2009-06-29T07:14:36Z
