Encode LIVE using H.264 codec?
- Are there plans to offer Live encoding with the h.264 codec? Thanks in advance -dino

- I think Microsoft will support h.264 with v.3 of Silverlight, so all we need to do is wait for that.
Is important to note that the upcoming release will also have the new AAC-LC codecs for "improve" audio quality but in fact they aren't a better option for large scale unicast scenarios because the current WMA 10 Pro is ranked higher than AAC-LC in low bitrates modes (like 48 kbps).
Christian - any idea of when v.3 of Silverlight will be released. I could have a large integration if I don't lose out to Flash!!!
- from what I can tell in encoder 3 is that you cannot use the h.264 codec with live encoding :-(
- HoSoftware, are you looking at the trial version? I hope this is just one of the options missing in trial version and in full version they will provide h.264 encoding. Because in non-live h.264 is not available either, it says you have to buy the full version.
Does anybody know more about encoding a live stream with the h.264 codec and Encoder3?

TOTALLY BUMMED- No, it is not possible. We are sad too :o(
www.streamhosting.cz - What is your use case for Streaming Live H.264? We are evaluating this for a future release but it is not in Encoder V3.
- Don't evaluate!...Implement it please.
Seriously folks, this is a must for all the pelope involved in professional live broadcasting.
I don't want to jump over Flash Media Server or Wowza for live h.264 live broadcasting.
It is expensive and not as polished and user friendly compared to Streaming with Windows Media Services and EE3.
Just for instance I have four BIG clients waiting for this feature.
Christian - Finally we have to move to Wowza Media Server 2 for Streaming LIVE h.264
It is amazing how this streaming server can broadcast to Flash AND Silverlight AND IPhone AT THE SAME TIME and with the same Publishing Point!
So, besides the embarrased situation for Microsoft and the development team it is possible to stream to all this platforms and you only need a FREE encoder like Adobe Media Encoder or VLC to do it.
What a shame for M.S
Christian
