QuestionNovember release unable to open previous projects

    Hello team,

I just installed the latest version of the Deep Zoom Composer (November Release) and found that it won't open projects made with previous versions. When trying you get the message:

Project file version is incompatible with current version of application.
Please install new version of Deep Zoom composer

Is this to be expected? Previous versions have always been able to open projects made with earlier versions. Will there be an update to solve this problem?

    Hi Sunshine!
Sorry to hear about that problem. Could you please e-mail me your dzprj file to kirupac[at]microsoft.com? I can try to investigate.

    Thanks,
    Kirupa

The new DLL is much faster, and yes, this is a GREAT improvement.

But I am it still fails about about image 80 when I try and load a 100 image project I created in an earlier version (100 tiles of 8K x 8K JPEG). Any plans to support 10GigaPixel or larger MSIs?

    This happened to me too.

I had a backup though and found a way that works.  (My "fix" opens them ok anyway.  I haven't done any editing with them yet.)

I think it is related to moving your project.  In my case I just got a new USB memory stick and it uses a new drive letter (H: instead of I:  ).  The problem showed up when I moved my stuff from I: to H:.  I do all of my work (C++, C#, Word, Silverlight) on my memory stick so I am not tied to any particular computer.

Before opening your project, with the november version, edit your *.dzprj files and make sure they use the correct drive letter.

what seems to be happening is that the new release changes <SourceDirectory> and <TreeDirectory> like it should but it deletes the <ImageList>.
